Video Post

Everybody's talking about Valentine's Day coming up...

[And Jimmy's confused as hell, which is clear from his expression.]

How is that even here? This is like some whole other planet, how come an Earth holiday is celebrated?

And there's other stuff, too. It took me a little bit to realize it, but there's lots of stuff that's pretty familiar. Not the same, but close, you know? You'd think there'd be all kinds of differences. Not that this place ain't weird, it's weird as hell, but... come on, you get what I mean.

[Or at least he hopes other people from Earth get it. He's still trying to come to terms with the fact that all of this is real, but he's reached a point where he can start paying close attention to this wacky world he's ended up in.]

Is that 'cause of us, all the people who get dumped here? Or was it always like this?

Pal, I think you'll find the less questions you ask, the less headaches you'll have.

That's... a good question, actually. I didn't think much about it, when it was Christmas time, since I got a bit caught up in the holiday....

[Not celebrating Christmas in over a decade will do that to you, HA....]

But now that you mention it, it does seem a bit strange.

It's weird as hell, but I don't think it's just because we're here.

Cultures don't shift this much, this fast. It's only been a few years. If you Earth people brought Valentine's with you, I don't think it'd be all over the place like this.

[Earth is much easier than saying "the place that has Europe in it" so he's going to go with that.]

Strange, isn't it? I hadn't heard of any of the holidays celebrated here besides Halloween. Halloween was all we had back home until I tumbled headfirst into Christmas Tow!

We have holidays like Christmas and Valentine's day....but we don't celebrate White Day or Tantabata....

Yeah, it's coming up. My girl's still back home, though, so it's gonna suck.

I'm pretty sure this place has always been this way, no matter how many of us have come here from different places. But you're right, it's got a lotta things similar to back home...but to tell you the truth, this place is really different from where I live in lots of ways.

[...Lots of ways.]

I'm not really sure. We've had Christmas and Valentines day and even Halloween to some extent... but I haven't been around long enough to tell.

[ And a small frown. ]

This world isn't all that different from the world I'm from... but Pokemon were part of a game back in my world.

Beats me. This place doesn't make a whole lot of sense, if you think about it long enough.

[And she had. quite a bit, really.]

One of the regions here, Kanto, has the same name as the part of Japan I'm from.

I wonder if this is some sort of proto-Earth?

[Or it could be a video game. Banjou's aware that it's a video game, but he's not going to be volunteering that information, especially not when he doesn't recognize most of the Pokemon here.]
foolishwren: the prices are fair and you can find a nice cranny by the cards and party bags to wail in peace. the employees are already crying. 7/10 (stores to cry in RATED: dollar tree)

Honestly, there's a lot of overlap. Hell, tons of pop culture stuff mirrors where I'm from. I can find Stephen Kingler's stuff in just about every bookstore here.

I just try not to think too hard about it.

This place seems to favor western holidays. There's already been three here that I'd never even heard of.

Well... I don't know, isn't there a Pokemon that's shaped like a heart? I mean, we don't have a Valentine's Day back home, but having a heart-shaped Pokemon seems like a good way to kickstart something like that!

...Except it doesn't actually look like a heart. Why do they call the... heart-shaped things hearts when they're not actually shaped like hearts?
