Holy moly, it's fat city over here!

[Jimmy's looking pleased as punch. He's outside somewhere, and a little worn out and sweaty. His cured DA pomp is even more curly and springy than usual.

So I'm just out and about, flexing the old training muscles, and it happened! Epic battle, odds against us, but Omi did it! He won, and he evolved! Lookit him!

[The 'gear turns to show a satisfied Marowak in the road.]

That's my little Omi! Only he ain't so little anymore! I knew it was probably gonna happen soon, but...I dunno, I guess I figured there was some kinda warning! Now he's a big man Marowak. Makes a trainer proud. Give him a round of applause, everybody, he deserves it!

[Jimmy looks at evolution like some kind of Pokemon right of passage. And Omi did great. Maybe he won't cry as much at night now.]

Oh, and hey Madoka! Guess what I got for you?

Whoa, cool! So, that can happen in the middle of battle, huh? I figured it would only happen like after a set amount or something.

It's different for different kinds, I guess? Like I know Omi just had to get enough experience. That last battle did it! But some others don't do it based just on battling experience?

It's crazy confusing, man. But yeah, it's cool!

I wasn't expecting to have to memorize so much about these little guys....

I know, right? There's so much stuff! I spend so much time studying, I figure this has to be what school's like!

...You never went or dropped out or something?

Never went. My ma and friends taught me stuff.

I didn't have what a lot of folks would call a conventional upbringing, you know?

You didn't. What do I care if I didn't spend eight hours a day or whatever in some stuffy building? It's not like I'm illiterate.

Omi's always been strong, that's why I named him Omi! That and the bones.

But I bet he's like ten times stronger now.

Probably nothing, it was this traveling show performer's stage name. His whole thing was he was like a prehistoric, tribal dude. All covered in tattoos and a bone through his nose, and he had a club. He was a strongman.

Real famous, where I come from. Or...well, he used to be, anyway.

I dunno, I never met him. Just heard about him, and had his card.

Yeah. Performers for those kind of shows all got something called a pitch card. It's got a picture and some information. People get'em signed and collect'em and stuff.

Hold on, I think maybe I got one of mine around here. It's a lot newer, it's in color and everything...

You have a card? Did you perform at the circus earlier this year? I went there, but I didn't get to see a lot of the acts...

Uh, no. I wasn't in that kind of show. It's...you know. Side show stuff. Hell, it's called Madame Elsa's Cabinet of Curiosities. But we do things, I mean it ain't one of those deals where rubes pay to gawk at us, you know?

I juggle. Which is pretty damn impressive with these.

[He brings his hands into frame.]

I sing, too, but I never got to in the show.

[He doesn't know what a rube is, but it does not sound like a good thing.

He blinks, not sure what he's looking at. Well, as long as this guy didn't have to much trouble doing things with those hands.]

You're better than me. I can't juggle at all!

[He laughs a bit.]

I can sing, but I don't think I can do it in front of people..

Lots of people can't. I started learning when I was real little, though.

Probably! Just start simple.

The weather hasn't exactly been the best, but I think that's just my luck. It rained when I was going to Mt. Mortar, too! But I'm fine, I gotta cushy stock job at the department store and I make good cash battling, I can afford a hotel room.

[Jimmy nods, beaming.]

You're getting a fire lion! I should be there in a day or two.

Okay... Of course, you're welcome to visit the Center any time, I'll make extra sure your Pokémon are given the best care possible, but I hope the hotel here is nice.
