Hey, who's been to Mt. Mortar?

Any advice for a coupe of guys headed that way to catch some Pokemon?

[After looking into it, it looks like that's their best bet. And it's not even really far away. But he's got no idea what they're headed into, and considering he's taking a kid with him, he figures he ought to ask about his current selected destination.]

And, uh, any advice on catching Pokemon in general. I never done it before.

That depends on what kind of Pokemon you're looking for.

But as for catching a Pokemon, that much is simple; you weaken it by engaging it in a battle, and once it's weak enough you can try to capture it. Status afflicting moves such as Toxic or Thunder Wave make it easier, as well.

You'll find your fair share of fire types in Mt. Mortar, then. A majority of Pokemon there are.

Do you know if you have a Pokemon with moves like those?

For catchin' Pokemon, intimidation is key!

Someone will already tell you about battling, but you can actually talk a lot of pokemon to coming with you without fighting if you're lucky.

Well, there's no 100% way to do it anymore then making friends with a person. I find food works really well.

I hear about people getting lost as hell there now and then. Keep your eyes open and be careful.

Now that you mention it, I ain't sure. Seems like they should, but if they did I wouldn't hear about so many people getting lost all the time.

For catching Pokemon, you just weaken them in battle first before catching them. Using status effects like sleep or paralysis helped a lot, since it'd make it harder for them to resist.

It does sound pretty bad like that, so trying to make friends with them is an option. Or find yourself being followed by a Pokemon who wants to be your friend.

[Or freeloader.]

I don't really mind, since I see it as a challenge and if they ever want to leave me, they can tell me and I'll let them go.

[Ah yes, here's Envy, the guy who last time Jimmy saw him spent half of the circus dinner having a mutual glaring contest with Wrath.]

I'm sure people are already telling you about battling them and throwing balls, but you know how I always seem to wind up with new Pokemon? They just decide to follow me until I keep them.

Whatever you're after, just act like you're not interested and you'll be covered in them.

[Envy hasn't even talked with Jimmy that many times, but he still realizes that it's a weirdly distant response. He didn't think he'd been that sarcastic.]

Something wrong?
