[It's about one in the afternoon when Krieg turns up on Jimmy's doorstep, decked out in his new Blaziken hoodie. His mask is nowhere to be seen - a red scarf dotted with cute orange and yellow Torchics seems to have taken its place, and is wrapped securely around his neck and the lower half of his face. He's cradling a one-eyed Darumaka in one arm, and holding a pair of slim, gift-wrapped packages in the other hand.
Since it's difficult to pound loudly on the front door with both hands full as they are (and he also doesn't want to upset the little monster in his arms with a loud noise), he does a little bit of juggling and rings the doorbell instead. Hopefully the doorbell works, and also hopefully Jimmy is home.]
[Krieg returns Jimmy's 100-watt grin with one of his own. With the whole upper half of his face uncovered, it's a lot easier to see his expressions, even if he's kept his mouth hidden.]
I didn't plan it. It just happened.
[Which is putting it mildly. BUT, he has no intention to make it into a big deal. He steps inside when Jimmy invites him to, and holds out the presents he brought.]
Happy Mercenary Day!
[The nice lady at the department store wrapped them. Inside one is a helpful book titled "A Beginner's Guide to Gardening", and inside the other is a single-use TM - Number 31, Brick Break.]
[He's just gonna assume that's the winter holiday Krieg celebrates.]
Hey, thanks! I got something for you, too, I haven't hit the post yet. Been kinda busy, finally rented out that spare room! Been settling back in to having a roomie. It's...it's real nice.
Didn't realize how much I'd missed it.
[Jimmy wasn't the sort of person who did well for long on his own. He sets the gift wrapped presents aside for the moment, to get Krieg's. Only a handful of his Pokemon are out and downstairs, but there's a fair few unfamiliar 'mons in the mix now.]
[In Krieg's arms, Zen Doll wiggles around just enough to get its eye on the other 'Mons in the room. Noticing the usually reticent creature's interest, Krieg shifts the Darumaka around just enough so that it doesn't have to crane so hard to see.]
Oh, yeah! You're living with the Squid Girl now, right?
[...Krieg you really should come up with a nicer nickname for Thida. Even if she doesn't mind it, jeez...]
Yeah! Thida finally moved in. I been offering for a long time, she ain't the kinda kid who oughtta be on her own.
[And Jimmy gets worried about the younger ones who don't have anybody from home or anything. How many have passed through this house over the years? A lot. It's good for everybody, really. Jimmy doesn't like being on his own, either.]
And she's a real great kid.
[Jimmy's calling from the other room now, and in a few minutes he comes back with...wow, that's a pretty big gift-wrapped box.]
[He knows Jimmy's been wanting a new roomie for a while. Heck, for almost as long as he's known him. Krieg never met his previous roommate, but he remembers when the guy had disappeared.
And, jeez, that's a pretty big box! Krieg eyes it curiously.]
Your Christmas gift! I saw'em and thought 'Krieg needs these'.
[Jimmy passes it over and sits back down, grinning.]
[The box is the length it is because...it's a pair of tiki torches. The kind you can put oil in and light for parties. And while they're intended to be used as standing decorations at parties...Jimmy's pretty sure Krieg can put them to all kinds of use.]
[Krieg has to do a bit of juggling when Jimmy hands him the large box - he can't hold it and open it and hold Dolly at the same time. So he sits on the sofa and settles Dolly right next to him for the big unwrapping.
His eyes light up and his grin is enormous when he sees the tiki torches; Jimmy was right - he immediately has at least 20 ideas for what to do with them.]

[Jimmy grins when he opens the door. Now that's a great surprise.]

Perfect! Thanks, Jim Dear!
