Well, I made it to Violet. I actually made it here a couple of days ago, but when I showed up...well, Madoka's gone home.

[He's dealing with it okay, but he's obviously hit by it.]

Anyway, I'm getting prepped to take on the Gym here. I've gotten some tips from a buddy of mine, but if anybody's got anymore, I'd appreciate it.

I've never done this before, a big challenge kind of thing. I've got a Marowak, a Buneary, a Sylveon and a Growlithe, all at least level 30 that I'm thinking of using as my main team. And then I got a Chikorita and a Litleo that are a little under level 30, if I need'em. That sound good?

I'm gonna be here a while, so if anybody's in town and wants to hang out, lemme know.

Oh yeah? Tip I got was Fight types and Electrics. Don't got any electrics high enough, myself, but Omi packs a hell of a punch.

I'd say pretty good if you keep some potions on-hand. It helps that your 'mon likes to fight.

I am all stocked up on potions and stuff. I been training for this specific Gym for about two months now.

I'd advise against using the Chikorita, if you can help it. As a Grass-type, it'll have a difficult time against that gym in particular.

Does your Buneary know an Electric-type move? If not, you might be able to teach it one in advance, to give yourself the advantage.

Well, he's kind of just a backup, 'cause of his levels. I ended up with a whole lot of Pokemon and it's tough training everybody. One day I've got two, then all of a sudden I got like over two dozen! But Omi's my main, he's my Marowak, and he's got some pretty tough moves.

Nah, she doesn't. I've never taught one of'em a new move before...

I'm not doing too bad, though. We weren't as close, we'd only known each other a month or something. We never even met in person.

It still sucks. She's a great kid, I really liked her. I caught her a Litleo, 'cause she didn't have any fire type cats and she wanted one.

It's something worth considering. That kind of strategy can give you the advantage you need quickly, without necessitating raising an entirely different Pokemon of the proper type simply for their natural moveset.

Anyway, that's how it always happens. Ya meet plenty a good folk in this place, but it's rare anyone keeps. Wish I knew how it all worked.

If ya ever need tips on the gym battles, don't be afraid ta ask! I've already cleared through Johto myself. Remember goin' up against Falkner like it was yesterday.

Y'know, if all goes well, plan on headin' out ta Kanto next month for those gyms!

If your Marowak's got any rock moves, it'll probably be your best bet. Sylveon might help against his Honchkrow, but for the others, you're gonna have to get creative. Your Buneary might be able to learn an ice or electric type move, but otherwise, you'll want to play it safe. Watch out for Swagger and Hypnosis, and just try to endure it as long as you can.
